It is lucky Spaon and other N.A.T.O. countries thumbed their noses at letting U. S. aircraft use bases in their countries in the Iran war, now the U.S. has no obligation yo defend N.A.T.O. countries if Russia retaliates by shooting down British, Rumanian or Spanish jets.
I doubt the Russia will soon reply to a N.A.T.O. first strike indiscretion. The prospect for a wider conflict for the U.S.A. to observe has been ignited though. One hopes that fuse fizzles out
