President Reagan was a Christian man. He wanted to eliminate nuclear weapons and end the Cold War with the Soviet Union. He was out front ahead of everyone in taking practical steps to accomplish that. How quickly American leaders forgot the decades of danger and effort to end the Cold War and globally adversarial relations with Russia and China. Some people can’t stand prosperity or peace and invariably return like dogs to their own vomit. President Trump like President Reagan prefers peace and mutual prosperity with Russia and CHina to global war.
President Trump is way ahead of Americans and Europeans in seeking to normalize relations with RUssia so far as possible. He knows that the sole way to end the Ukraine war is to end support for the West Ukraine Government. THe DOnbas, Lugansk and other regions east of the Dnepro River need be Russian. That was known even before the problems concerning the RUssian effort to recover ground lost during the transition from Soviet control arose.
So long as Americans send money, weapons and intell to Comedian in Chief Zelenski the war will continue. Europeans may tire of the conflict if they need pay for it themselves. The Republican party should back ending the sanctions on Russia and normalizing the economic relationship as soon as possible. Buying Russian diesel fuel is an example of a win-win deal. The worst that is likely to occur if Ukraine hasn’t U.S. support is for the conflict to end along the Dnepro River or a little farther east. The worst than can happen if it doesn’t is a general atomic war. One is better than the other although some members of the U.S. Senate would not have a clue which.
